Spend the Holidays at Lake Tahoe
"Let it snow - let it snow - let it snow."
And it has! During the last several days, Lake Tahoe received an incredible amount of snow, which should help diminish the drought California has experienced over the last several years. Additionally, we expect light snow throughout the rest of December.
There is nothing more magical than spending a White Christmas at Lake Tahoe with family and friends!
All area ski resorts will be open by December 17th, 2021. Some are currently open, with limited lifts running. A few were hit with power outages, which should be resolved once the storm passes today.
Lake Tahoe Holiday Events
This holiday season, you can snowshoe, cross country and downhill ski, or visit ice carving demonstrations and ski with Santa. Enjoy fireworks at Tahoe Donner, sleigh rides and even Disco Tubing!
From downtown Tahoe City, Truckee and the Villages at Palisades Tahoe and Northstar, all are decorated with wreaths and garlands, sprinkled with fresh snow and twinkling lights. You can also visit the many 5 star restaurants or shop for last minute and unique gifts. Lake Tahoe is magical at every time of year, but spending the holidays in Lake Tahoe is truly awe inspiring.
Palisades Tahoe Events
On December 19 and 20th, Santa will be at the Village in Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley.) You can also find him at Homewood Mountain Resort on December 21st through the 25th.
Palisades Tahoe also presents Disco Tubing from 5 to 8pm on December 18th. The resort becomes a winter wonderland this holiday season with fireworks and ice sculpture demonstrations.
Enjoy the sounds of the season with live caroling from the Great Basin Carolers. They will be performing for free from 4-7pm on December 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
Until December 24th, you can Shop, Dine, & Ski Free at Palisades Tahoe. You'll want to save your receipts because if you spend $750 total at any Palisades Tahoe establishment up until December 24th, you can receive a free unrestricted Adult Lift Ticket.
Northstar Events
Northstar California Resort is holding their annual Noel Nights through December 17th. They've opened Comstock Chair with 17 new runs on Comstock and Vista, along with Big Springs Gondola.
Enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides, s’mores and hot cocoa with complimentary ice-skating. On December 23rd, kids can enjoy Breakfast with Santa between 9am and 10:30am.
Live Music begins December 18th. Grab a drink from the Cabana Bar, cozy up around a fire pit, or break out the ice skates and enjoy live music from 2pm to 5pm in The Village on Saturdays through the end of March.

New Year's Eve Light Parade and Fireworks Show at Tahoe Donner

Come join the Tahoe Donner community for a fun, family-friendly celebration to ring in the New Year at Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort. After a great day on the mountain, enjoy the popular Light Parade followed by the annual Fireworks Show. Warm up next to the outdoor firepits and enjoy hot toddies, hot cocoa and more. Stick around for the fireworks and help us ring in the New Year!
Light Parade:
A fun event for intermediate skiers and riders ages 10 or older who can ski or ride unassisted in the dark on our Race Course Run. Come early to secure a spot!
Sign-ups: 4:30-5:45PM | Snowbird Chair loads at 6:15PM.
Fireworks:
The spectacular fireworks show will follow shortly after the Light Parade.
