The Crown Jewel, the biggest house in the tiniest historical town of Floriston. The family that grew up here is ready to "pass it on" after 60 years of ownership. Their father purchased it in 1966 becoming its fourth owner. But what happened before 1966 is the history! Floriston was originally settled as a railroad construction camp in 1867. In 1899, Floriston Pulp and Paper Company constructed a mill that had seven buildings, company housing for 150 workers & a superintendents house (the big yellow house!). The mill prospered & grew, as did the town, with a large hotel, schoolhouse, hospital, general store, post office, railroad depot & employed 500 men. However, change happensthe mill was closed in 1930. In 1947, a San Francisco attorney purchased the whole town! Today it is a community of approximately 80 hardy private property owners that come from all walks of life. And the Big Yellow House. still stands tall & proud! What will its continued history be? A new owner will determine that. Please come and visit the Big Yellow House of Floriston and see if it captures your heart and you can envision its future for another century.
