Holidays Lake Tahoe | Truckee Style

The Lake Tahoe basin received a nice base of snow at the beginning of November and many ski resorts have already opened. We are expecting another round of snow from November 27 into the first week of December 2022. This means that Lake Tahoe and Truckee are the perfect place to be for the holidays!

Holiday Decorating Ideas

christmas tree decorations

When preparing your table for family and friends, why not make your own holiday centerpiece? Using moss, pine cuttings, bark, stones and pinecones, you can create something with a unique Tahoe style.

Create decorations for the Christmas tree using dried fruit slices, decorated cookies, pinecones and other items found in nature. String acorns, pine cones and cinnamon sticks on rustic twine. If you want to get really creative, paint the acorn bottoms gold.

Look around the surrounding landscape for other Tahoe rustic ideas. Bring the outdoors indoor this holiday season!

Christmas Tree Permits

This year, get your Christmas tree from the Tahoe National Forest and help thin out the trees for fire safety. Christmas tree permits are a unique opportunity to help thin densely populated stands of small-diameter trees – the perfect size for a Christmas tree.

Cutting Season Dates: Mon, Nov 7, 2022 - Sat, Dec 31, 2022

These permits are specific to ranger districts within the Tahoe National Forest. Please ensure you select the correct area for where you plan to cut your tree. If you need help with the names and boundaries of the Ranger District, please call the District or Supervisors Office. For more information click here.

Base to Base Gondola Connecting Palisades & Alpine

Grand Opening December 17th 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Getting between Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows just got alot easier. A new gondola will connect the two base areas of Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows to unite the two resorts. Guests will enjoy easy access to 6,000 acres of some of the continent’s most iconic ski and snowboard terrain.

The 2.4 mile Gondola will transport guests between The Village at Palisades Tahoe and the Alpine Lodge, with the option for expert skiers and riders to unload at the KT-22 mid-station. It offers 96 cabins that allow for 8 people per cabin. This 16 minutes ride across the breathtaking landscape connecting the mountains allows for terrain viewing not seen before.

Upgrades to Alpine Meadows base area include easier access from the lodge to the ski lifts. Additionally, Red Dog has a new quad chair!

The base-to-base gondola means that you don’t need to get out of your skis to board a shuttle to reach either resort. It is expected to ease traffic on 89 and reduce pollutants into the Lake Tahoe basin. For more information click here.

The real estate market has definitely slowed, although interest rates dropped in the third week of November. Contact me today for more information about the real estate market in Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
