North Lake Tahoe Farmer's Market Information

Buy Local

At the farmer's markets in Truckee and Tahoe City you will find fresh fruit, artisan cheeses, organic meat and beautiful floral bouquets. Produce from the grocery stores has often spent weeks in refrigerated trucks, can be treated with chemicals and is often flavorless. When you buy from the local farmer's, the food is fresh and you also support our local community. Many of the farmers are located in the Sierra Foothills.

Tree Ripened Fruit

The farmers often pick their fruit the day before driving to North Lake Tahoe. The fruit has been allowed to ripen on the vine and has not gone through refrigeration or artificial coloring. Buying a tomato in a grocery store cannot compare to the heirloom variety found in farmer's markets. The fruit is always ripe and juicy and perfect for your weekend getaway at Lake Tahoe.

Natural Floral Bouquets

Although you can find floral bouquets in the grocery store, the fresh picked wild flowers found at farmer's markets are often dressed with fresh herbs are perfect for your rustic Tahoe weekend. Whether you like the smell of fresh rosemary sprigs, basil bunches or lavender, you can find all sorts of aromatic bouquets to decorate your home at Lake Tahoe.

Organic and non-GMO

The farmers participating in local farmer's markets use organic methods to grow their produce and to raise livestock. There are benefits to the environment and to your body by eating organic and not chemically treated foods, which is probably the best reason to buy at a farmer's market. Food is also grown seasonally and we know that citrus often blooms during allergy season as a natural anti-histamine. Pumpkins and other seeded produce are good for eliminating phlegm during cold season. Eating seasonal produce is nature's intended remedy for all that ails us.
